WHO
studio WOUW is a plant-based dye house in Ghent.
From home, we make dye baths from both locally sourced and cultivated dye plants but also from residuals such as; onion peels, avocado peels, nut shells. Both new and existing textiles are used and it is important to make the smallest possible impact on nature/environment.
For this reason, the dye baths are made with rainwater and heated with solar energy. The waste stream of plant pulp is repurposed into handmade paper and partly used for compost, so we try to be as circular as possible.
The dye house dyes its own products such as clothing and household textiles and also offers workshops on location. Various collaborations are also entered into to create more conceptual and quirky products.
